This examination of Surrealism approaches figuration and materials at the cutting-edge of contemporary art. Our current shared reality totes on the lines of absurdity, wherein we can all relate with the innate questioning of existence. The artists of this exhibition create work that exists in a universe adjacent to our own - so close - yet, through their materials and internal contradictions, they remain something distinctly otherworldly; surreal. This exhibition may not abide by the rules of the preconceived notions of Surrealism as described by André Breton; instead, the works speak to the powerful juxtapositions and organic thought processes inherent to a profoundly human approach to aesthetics. Surreal So Good embodies the original spirit of Surrealism—oppositional, radical, and revolutionary—which came about as a reaction to the cataclysm of the time.
