“The Big Wig,” a solo exhibition of work by Kevin Sabo, is on view from March 8th to April 2nd, 2024. This is Sabo’s first solo in West Palm Beach and with TW Fine Art. "The Big Wig" is an exploration of status and social constructs, wherein Sabo cleverly employs the double entendre of the term "Big Wig.” Originally associated with the extravagant fashion trends of the 17th and 18th centuries, where the size of a wig symbolized social status (the larger the wig, the more important the individual), the term has evolved to connote influential figures within modern organizations. Sabo weaves historical and contemporary meanings together through his recurring characters: CEOs and Drag Queens, whom he affectionately refers to as his "Girlies.”

Sabo's “CEO bros” and “Girlies” exist in a realm where gender and identity fluidity reign supreme. Delving into Sabo's characters is akin to embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Each figure possesses a distinct presence; expressive faces, contorted bodies, and fashionable attire depicting the artists examination of the queer lens in fine art. Whether they exude an air of vulnerability or radiate confidence, Sabo's characters resonate with a raw authenticity that transcends labels and classifications.In his newest body of work, Sabo examines his personal experiences regarding gender affirmation, capturing the nuances of the human condition. His paintings, with their bold colors and gestural brushstrokes, convey a sense of liberation and genuineness.
